Multnomah County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards announced her candidacy for county chair on February 9, 2026, citing the need for strong leadership to address crises such as homelessness and public safety in Multnomah County, OPB reports.
Brim-Edwards joins District Two Commissioner Shannon Singleton in the race, according to OPB. Their campaigns follow Chair Jessica Vega Pederson's December 2025 decision not to seek reelection.
